Are the internals different in the 044 and 046 mags?

Yes... different crankcase, cylinder, piston, external plastic etc...

The 460/046 is much more robust in engine construction, and consequently weighs more.

I don't really know - but it is a fact the Stihl never even bothered to offer the 440 here, only the 460W, and the rescue version of the 460, from those......:biggrinbounce2:
