044 arctic

I have a chance to pick up a used 044 arctic from my dealer. I guess he has two of them. One is cleaner than the other. Do you guys have any things that I might need to look for on this model? We've never had Stihls with the arctic features on them.

Also what do you think about a fair price for it. I haven't seen it yet so I don't know all the specifics.

All good tips. Thanks. I ended up passing on both of the saws I saw in there. Both 044 arctics. One is only a few months old. The other has been used more but still seems to have good compression.
Who knows, maybe I'll get weak and get one.

Where are these saws? House Trucking?

Sorry not to get back sooner, but yes they were at House Trucking. There were two older ones for $275 and one only a couple of months old for $450. They were all in good shape. My father and I bought one of the cheaper ones. It is a real strong engine. When I picked it up the newer saw was bought too. The other one was still there. That and an 038 and some other good Stihls.

Haven't put the 044 to work yet but what a strong running saw. Great compression and seems to have been well maintained. I'll let you know how it holds up.
