I have a 4 year old 044 that I just installed a Walker's muffler on. Special thanks to John Walker for the nice job on the muffler.

I tached the saw after installing the muffler; the rpms were maxing out at 14100. I have removed the hi and lo adjusting screw stops and set the max rpms to around 12700; the saw slightly blubbers at max revs and handles well in the cut.

Any suggestions as to the max rpms would be greatly appreciated as I am relatively inexperienced at chainsaw tweaking other than the info I have gleaned from Arborsite.

Thanks ahead of time for any info.

Regards,

Mark

Welcome Mark.

It sure sounds like you've understood the valuable information you've gleaned.

I appreciate the responses as it let's me know that I am on the right track and not likely to burn my piston/head. It won't be long before I'll be looking at purchasing a Husky 385 and it will be getting some of the same mods.

Thanks again,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Welcome to AS!

As a guy who has a 385, unless you are getting an exceptional deal on one, buy a Dolmar 7900. You get virtually the same power for two pounds less. This new Dolmar seems to be the equal to any current Stihl or Husky quality wise and is a real nice saw to have in your hands.
