Hey everybody, new to this forum, could use some help. Using my 044 and it stalled. Pulled the rope and it stayed out. Starter pulley was shredded. put a new one on and put everythingback correct.. Started on second pull ran about three seconds and shredded the new starter pulley. I didnt drop the saw or bend anything. any ideas on what could be causing this?
Thanx for help
Nate

more information

might explain the problem better.
the rope rotor is getting torn up on the inside clutch side, where the pawls and clip go. It seems like the rotor is moving in or the crankshaft is moving out. When I lift the crankshaft there seems to be no play though. Would really appreciate the help. I have the saw at a mechanic right now and he says he doesnt know whats causing the problem. His solution is to start replacing parts :angry2: IF you dont have an answer, where can I go to get one?
Thanx again

nate,
are you following the starter cord back into the saw or just letting go when you finish your pull? letting go will allow the cord to bunch up inside the starter assembly and create problems. do you drop start or forget to use the decompression valve? just a couple of questions to get a better idea. marty

all of the above, drop start, probably let go of the rope. However, I had been cutting for about an hour when the first meltdown occured. So I took it into local shop he replaced the part and reassembled, cranked it and within seconds rotor busted again. He quite working on it, called me and said we need to order a new fan housing. When i went to the shop to look at it. He didnt know where to look for the serial number. This guy scares me. I'm picking up the saw tommorrow to work this out myself.
