Well I got my torque wrench today and it worked great. I torqued the case screws, put the clutch side seal on, put the spacer on, put the oiler on, and now I'm at the worm gear. It says in the manual that its supposed to stop against something when turning it counterclockwise. It's not stopped against anything and just keeps turning counterclockwise. Am I doing something wrong or what? Thanks.

The worm gear must turn and turn and turn... to pump oil....
What page or part of the manual are your refering to?

I'll look it up and get back to you. So it doesn't matter that it just keeps turning? Does it just turn from the crankshaft or....? I just want to make sure I get everything in there right. Thanks.

the gear turns clockwise when the saw is running,,,when the saw reaches rpm to load the clutch it spins with the clutch drum there is a notch in the clutch drum that fits over the little steel arm on the worm gear,,,, when the clutch drum is turning the oilpump is driven,,,,,,never noticed anything about it turning CCwise and stopping,,,,, but I've been wrong before

Ok. It's page 76 of the repair manual at the bottom of the center column.

They mean screw it in until it bottoms out. It doesn't really stop moving around - just stops going IN.

Be sure to put the cover washer over the pump the correct way up (TOP stamped on the washer means facing you) before putting the clutch on.

Yep I got the correct way on the washer. I realized how the worm gear functioned once I started assembling the chain brake and put the clutch drum on. I understand how it works now. For future reference, am I supposed to take the oiler all the way off to adjust the flow or is there an easier way? And I couldn't tell from the IPL or the manual whether the washer that holds the rim sprocket on goes stamped side up or stamped side down? Thanks. Evan

The flow is adjusted via the control screw though the bottom of the chainsaw.

The rim washer is stamped side down.

Should the rim sprocket have side to side play(along the crankshaft axis) with the rim washer on? It was moving when I had it on before but I think I had the rim washer backwards.
