Okay guys , Brad or any of the rest of you . I have a 45/056 unsure which, Its an old logging company saw and has been put away wet more then once. It has no badge, just 056 scratched in the top cover. bye the way not the on/off shielded cover.

It has a 54mm bore as measured thru the exhaust port with the depth gage on a veriner caliper.
Cylinder has the finned relieved for the exhaust pipe, but muffler is the one piece muffler, no pipe.

has a Tillotson S118B carb

the carb box cover is the mag style with cut outs

Has the Bosch Ign, has spark

The bar inner guide plate does not have a retaining screw, is retained by bar studs.

The manual show this
attachment.php
and says sys ign problem without it. The parts manual and LakeSide mentions this
attachment.php
in his 056 Mag!! rebuild thread for a grounding system.

Problem is I have neither.. So think I'll go with the grounding wire BUT I don't know where to connect the the lower end.. I assume it connects to the cylinder hold down bolt, but not sure, anybody????

First off, it's either a 045 Super or 056 Super. They both have a 54mm bore. I thought the 056 Super had the extra pipe on the muffler? The filter cover must be off of a 056 Mag II. I think they're the only ones with the cut outs.

I'm not sure where the wire goes.

Those where the asumption I had made also, was hoping you would chime in with the answer for me...on joy yet
Thanks...

That spring is the old grounding system for the original 045s. Just about every 045/056 I have uses the wire, I've only seen that spring once. And the bottom end of the wire goes to the rearmost bolt securing the plastic cylinder shroud. Really though, it can go wherever you can conveniently attach it, so long as it is on the engine assembly.

HS118 is the standard carby for 045 and 056s. Bosch ignition could be on most any of these saws except the Mags.

As far as the cylinder being setup for the muffler pipe. I imagine that all replacement cylinders bought after the 056 came out would be set up that way. I bought a new slug/jug for my 045 Super and it is cut away for the pipe.

There are a lot more commonalities between the 045s and the early 056s. The Mags are more different and not just due to the displacement and mufflers. You can mix and match nearly all parts on these saws. Almost more interchangeability than the Husky 266/268 and Jonsy 630/670. I know the clutch side bearings differ, but I forget exactly how and when.

Does your saw have a chainbrake? One piece muffler, 3 piece?

Reason your pics didn't insert is they are PDFs and not image files.
