Ive started my first saw rebuild on the 056. I tore it apart and for the most part cleaned it up.I was just wandering what you guys would do in my situation .Should i go ahead and put a piston and rings in it since im that far or just rering it .There are a few scuffs on the piston but not on the rings. Ive got some pics but they dont look that good (sorry).Info would be appreciated.

Yeah, it is hard to tell what you have their as your camera focused on everything but the saw. In the last pic, it looked like you did a good job cleaning it. I have one of those saws and for an old saw it does not cut bad. But as for the parts if it were my saw I would see how much piston slop you have got, and if the piston still fits tight in the cylinder " after you clean the piston"; I would put the saw back together with new rings.

I'd just use it if it looks o.k... you can always change it out later in less then a hour. New rings can be had quite cheaply.. plenty of aftermarket 1.5mm rings out there.

If you put the rings in the bore (near the bottom where it's not worn), what's the end gap? 10-20 thou is worn but acceptible

Oh heck I forgot about the pressure test . Thanks. Sorry for the stupid questions its my first saw rebuild. Just wanna get it right the first time.:)

Those are not stupid questions. That is one thing I have learned about this forum; no matter how much you think you know the next post will teach you something new.

Thats true Ive learned alot on these forums. Everybody gets alot of help from this place .

I finally got around to put mix and bar oil in the 056 , and fired it up . Took about 6 pulls .Made a few carb adjustments and it runs and idles good . I think I have one problem though ,It seems like it is oiling way to much.Ive got the oiler adjusted all the way down to. Not to sure what to do ,thats the only thing I didnt rebuild.Any thoughts on the oiler would be appreciated. Oh and thanks for the help on my past questions.

It may be O.K... they oil pretty aggressively even at minimum settings.

Can you see any difference in flow from high to low?

Im not sure If theres a difference, Ill give that a try and see what happens.
