I've been told to keep my 066 running a little frumpy while using it for milling. Unfortunately I don't have a tach. But it sounds to me that after the new piston was put in and the saw was adjusted to run at 1150 rpms that it is starting to run a little leaner on it's own. I've whacked with a broom stick to get to spit and cough again but I'm worried it's running to good for it's own good. Do I beat it into submission and send it to bed without mix or should I let it run great until it burns up again? And if not what do you all do make your saw run like it's not well? Do I turn the H screw in or out? Or do I turn it in and out till it dosen't run well? Thanks for any expert advise.

It will pick up a bit of RPM as the Saw breaks in. Turning the H screw IN (clockwise) leans the mixture. Turning it OUT (counter clockwise) make the mixture richer.

If the saw is in good shape, 1 turn out should be about 12k. With a dual port muffler - maybe 1 1/8 turn. You'll hear a healthy burble with a 28 to 32 inch bar on it at this setting.

My advise for milling - spend less then $30 and get a tach... even if it's only to train you ear as to what the saw sounds, like at a particular rpm.
