Good News! I finally got that Stihl Lightning from Germany today and an original manual, from another Ebay purchase. Overall looks pretty good and clean, carb looks rebuilt, etc. The bad news: The starter feels beat. it barely grips by the time the cord is 3/4 of the way out. The starter cup teeth are very smooth, and the two tangs on the rope pulley, that the pawls hit are cut through about 1/16 of an inch. This is the two piece starter cover. Any leads for parts? Also I could use a top plate, as this one is missing the logos etc. Thanks in advance Mike. (It was supposed to run like his Porshe Speedster, but I can't get it to start)

Stihl dealer
part#'s
1106 190 4600 is the pawl assembly
1106 190 2100 is the recoil cup assembly

Both are good numbers and when ordered will take a while to get I would imagine, no more than 2 weeks. I dbout any supply houses carry them..

IF you are quite patient, watch on ebay, ask some sellers if they have one, you might just get lucky and find one.

Thanks all for your advice guys. Jacob: It is a Red Lightning actually, this starter has a center piece held on with four screws. Would that use the same internal as the typical 070/090 one piece starter cover? Also Any leads for the top aluminum plate with the Stihl/ Lightning logos? Mike

Hey Mike-

JimL would be your contact for red lightning parts, I wouldn't have anything to fit a red lightning. He did have some of those new aluminum top plates, he might let loose of one.

no more top plates

the recoil innards are the same as a 090. parts are still made today..

top Plate

Jim you have the part # for the plate that you got and I'll try to see if I can find one. Also I'll post some pics when I get my computer totally running again. Thank Mike

That pawl part# is the guts for an older 045/056 starter as well. Just picked one up today for $10.60, plus the rest of the washers that complete the stack.

Should be pretty easy to get. Don't know about that other part#.
