Sorry, posted this twice. Can't figure out how to delete.

what sort of mill do you have or plan on getting?

A 44" cut on a conventional alaskan mill will require a minimum of a 50" bar, But I would get either a 54 or 56" just to be sure to be able to get around crotches or branch unions etc
For eucalypts which can be very hard wood I would recommend 3/8 regular (not lopro or skip) chain and you can either buy it with regular top plate filing angle of 25-35º and file/grind it yourself to 10º OR but it already at the 10 angle.

I got a 60" Cannon bar and drilled 1/4 " holes in each end to bolt up made chain changes sweet . The tad bit of extra length will be nice [ as per Bob ] .

Ok, found a cannon bar 60". Will order that. Will also order panthermill. My still should be here any day.

Most of the time it has a 88 , but i have run my 51 on it for fun and it was sweet ,but slower , with great torque . I think the 51 would break a chain if you weren't careful to run it up to speed before starting the cut .
