On the subject of bar compatability, can an 075 bar fit a 460? Keeping with a 3/8 b/c? Roller tip over hardtip? Thinking about a 32"-36", for occasional cross cutting/ripping. The 075 is coming with a 42"bar and I want to keep it for milling only.

What are your thoughts?, Thanks.

The 075 uses the large Stihl mount used by the 051, 084, 088 076, 090 and a couple others.

The 046 uses the standard Stihl mount, used on the 026-066.

The bar studs are larger on the large mount, which requires spacers to make it fit correctly.

It's doable, but not a direct swap.

Pick up a used roller or sprocket 32"-36" bar. Even if you could get everything to work - stud spacers, oiler hole - I wouldn't want to carry a big-mount bar around on a saw that didn't require it. Plus I suspect that your loops' drive link count wouldn't match up anyway on the smaller saws, even if the bar did mount up.

Sure, it means owning yet another bar, but it is the price we pay for playin' with the big saws, I guess.

THis sounds like a case of ' just because I can doesn't mean I should ' .

THanks for helping me get off the fence on this. A couple used bars that fit each saw properly makes the most sense.

THanks gents.
