How long did the 084 and 088 production runs last, specifically what years were they produced?

084 according to my book ran from 1985-1997. Can't say on the 088, it states it came out in 1997 but when it went to the 880 I'm not sure..

It became the 880 in very late 2003...

Thank you for the info, effort...My first experience with a Stihl was in '85
when an acquaintance fired up his 084 with a HUGE bar to cut a fallen
water oak. That saw made quite an impression. I remember it to this day.

Just wondering, how does the 075/076 fit into all this? Was it replaced by the 084 in 1985? For a while time Stihl carried 2 two saws with nearly the displacement the 075/076 and the 070. I realize these 2 saws are apples and oranges, but I think I'd rather lug around my 076 first.
