084 Muffler options.

My muffler outer cover has 3 of the 4 bolt holes enlarged due to vibration and metal fatigue and the 4th bolt hole is similarly enlarged around the nut of the inner muffler.

I understand these are discontinued and rare as hen's teeth. So what are my options? I found a machined aluminium outer cover on eBay. What about the inner muffler body -- any Farmertec or other aftermarket suppliers out there anywhere? Would the muffler assembly from an 088/MS880 fit?

No 880 with not fit. Thus why the 084 mufflers are like hens teeth. Best bet is to take your current muffler to a very experienced welder and have them repair it. Otherwise expect a decent wait and about a $200 price tag.

Weld or sif bronze washers over the enlarged holes not a "concors de elegance " in looks but works, I repaired a muffler in this manner some 3 years back & it"s still going good
