I need some help.
I have a 090 that I have been rebuilding and need some advice. I put a new diaphram on the oiler but the pump is still not pushing any oil. While the saw is running and with the cap off of the oil reservoir, I can see the pump mechanism turning and when I give it throttle the plunger opens up (pushes out), and the mechanism turns faster, but no oil comes out. I see that there is a little bit of a kink in the line coming from the head to the oiler. could this be my problem or am I missing something else completely???

Most pumps you have to put together wet or prime them to get them to pump. Hope this helps.

Thanks dirttroll,

Im not sure that the pump will hold a prime due to the fact that the intake does not have a one way valve in it. Usually a pump system that requires a prime will have a type of foot valve that keeps the system as a closed system. I believe that the single stage type pump that the 090 has would probably self prime. But Im still not getting any oil to push. So does anybody else have any ideas on the problem. Or how to prime the pump in a fashion that will start the oil flowing??

Thanks

Thru the filler cap opening. You may have to stuff the opening with a rag or dime store sponge rubber ball of the right size. Hve used this metod in getting diesel fuel systems to prime.
