I had this tree in the backyard, the top got messed up after the october snowstorm we had last year, and got finished off by hurricane sandy this year. Wasn't real big, but I didn't need it to be real big. I kept breaking the 2"x4" uprights on my dump trailer when loading logs, so I had a local metal shop get me some square tubing to use; I needed to make 12' boards to use as sides bolted to the square tube.
The 3 boards from the middle are about 9" wide, 13' long, and 1 1/4 thick. Not enough to make 24" sides for both sides of the trailer, I will need to keep an eye out for another log.
The wood looked nice though, I never milled hickory before.

Yup,

looks like Shagbark.

That is not the easiest wood to rip, sure is purty though.

I have some as big as 28", but with all the borer killed Ash, my cup runneth over.

I wouldn't use hickory for trailer siding or decking. It just rots too quickly. It is pretty wood, though. If you use it indoors, treat it for powder post beetles first. What did you mill it with?
