I ran into a tree trimmer at the local gas station with a small dumptruck load of oak logs. I ask him what he was going to do with it and he says "nothin.. you want it?" I offered him 20 bucks to drive it 8 miles to my house. He said he will bring me more oak than I will know what to do with.

That's livin the dream!

Right on. I’ve been dropping a lot of hickory and decided to put it out front for people for free. Morons pulling in my drive rutting up my yard, almost getting in accidents backing into the street. Never again will I be so kind to give away nicely bucked hardwood. I’ll let it rot or landfill it before I ever let anyone off the street have it. Inconsiderate morons. Sorry for the downer post. I’m excited you got a hookup on some good wood!!

If your wonderful midwest is anywhere near me I'd take all of the hickory you could give away. All I would leave is sawdust...

It is 44+% humidity. My meter only reads 18-44%. If the weather stays this nice I will get it split and stacked in the next 2 weeks. I have a big white oak to go with it in the 2021 pile.

I know there are more great guys that would be thankful and decent about getting free wood than there are not. Twice I've put out pickup loads of bucked to firewood length wood in the 12 to 20" diameter range. And twice I ended up having to deal with people absolutely destroying the gravel in my driveway(they must think they need to do burnouts as they pull out?wtf?) and at one point had multiple vehicles pulling into my nicely cut front yard grass, only to leave big streaks of tire spinning when they pulled out after loading up. Let me not mention the time a guy pulled into my driveway to unload a pickupload of brush into my side wood lot. That wasn't very funny. ugh.....
