Hi, I wanted to know if anybody out there is familiar with the 2003 brush Bandit gas powered model 90 W. The guy tells me it has a 17" capacity but I think he is confusing it with the size of the drum. If your not familiar with my problem. I'm in CA and I cant afford a new diesel chipper so I'm looking into the gas powered units, its a new law.
What do you think?:chainsawguy:

first hit on a Google search for "brush bandit model 90W" led to:

The Model 90XP is a compact, easy-to-tow 9-inch capacity disc-style chipper. A 9" X 17" chipper opening allows the Model 90XP to process multiple stems as well as large diameter pieces up to 9 inches. This unit has been very popular among tree services, utility line contractors, and municipalities because of its maneuverability and low operating costs. The Model 90XP features a wide array of engine options ranging from 48.1 to 89 horsepower.

Sounds like he is thinking about the 17" width. I haven't used one, but I am quite certain that does not mean you could put a piece that is 9"x17" through thei chipper just because that is the opening size...

We had the 90xp about 15 years ago. Good machine. Chips up to 9 inches. As long as you do not go crazy with it, it should suit you fine for a while. We eventually went to 250xp and now 1590xp. It all depends on what you are going to do with it.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out. I have always ran a diesel bandit 200xp in the past, Im clueless about gas units. I have never operated a drum before. I am also looking into a large capacity whisper chuck and duck. Any thoughts?
Thanks:greenchainsaw:

I'm still running an old chuck n duck, and given the choice, I'd trade three of 'em for a bandit 90.

I've run 200's and 250's, you won't get nearly the performance from a 90 that you will from the bigger machines. But if the 90 fits your niche, it's a machine with a great rep.
