Used 2013 floppy cap husky 550xp. Saw has many hours on it but still starts idles revs and cuts good. Overall physical condition is good. One of the captive chain cover nuts has been replaced with a non captive nut. There is a very small crack in the top cover near one of the clips. The clutch drum needle bearing and drive ring is brand new. Good cheap 550 for someone wanting a nice second saw or a beater type truck saw or even for someone looking to play around with 550 modifications. Not sure of the compression piston or cylinder. It runs fine so I did not bother tearing into it any further.

$335 shipped with 18 bar and chain shown .325 .058

No mods I can do a compression test in about an hour I'll get right back to you

I just tested the compression, it is rather low at 115psi cold, it does start and run great, I burnt 1/2 tank through it yesterday and it never missed a beat.

I havent used the decomp, it might be a little leaky, I went back out and pulled the muffler, there is some slight, very minor scoring on the exhaust port side that extends from the bottom of the piston to about 1/4 inch below the ring, the piston ring and top edge look great as well as the cylinder walls from what you can see through the exhaust port.

My evaluation says a ring job would fix the low compression, for the price of a good oem or aftermarket piston it might be wise to make a switch, the cylinder is fine.

That being said I would be glad to work with a buyer on the price.

Thanks

Does your tester have a schrader valve on the end? If not or you are using an adapter, that will explain the low number. The volume in the adapter acts like an extended combustion chamber since there is no schrader valve. If it's really 115psi it would be close to not running at all.

It is an adapter. That makes sense. I've seen sleds with compression lower than that run great but never a small single cylinder 2 stroke like a saw.

I couldn't find one (AM) a few months ago. I checked Ebay before I post and there wasn't one there either.

The Ebay piston is dished!!

The OEM piston is flat topped-
