I realized i posted this in the wrong forum, so here it is now.

I just bought a brand new 2159 from our local dealer yesterday and I went out this morning to limb and cut some firewood this morning but the saw wouldn't run quite right. if the powerhead is held horizontal, it runs fine. But when i hold it sideways or vertical to limb, the saw wants to cut out and will eventually quit. I went through the manual and adjusted the high and low settings like it said...it helped some, but surely didn't fix it. I was just wondering if anybody had any ideas that it could be that I can do, or wait until mon. and have the dealer cover it under warranty?

anything will help. thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan, and welcome to the site. Your problem is certainly covered by the warranty, and your dealer should have no problem taking care of it. (I'll do it for a small bottle of Dark Amber!)

I've had a few 2159/359's that just couldn't be set right without shaving off the stops on the limiter caps. (don't do this yourself, let your dealer do it if he wants) What I think happens is that some of them have the limiter caps installed on a carb that is too far out of adjustment, and therefore can't be adjusted properly. Plus your saw is an E-tech with the cat muffler, and they seem to be fussier than most. Does your saw quit on acceleration or when idling? (I could be going in the wrong direction myself here, especially since it runs OK when held horizontally)

Also, check the fuel line, even if it's a new saw. ALL fuel lines on Jonsereds and Huskys can fail, due to some kind of UV deficiency in the fuel line itself.

I noticed them to be finicky when they are not at full throttle, if you are revving it for limbing you may be in the partial throttle range. mine idles fine, revs to wot and wot fine but doesn't like the in between running.
could this be part of the issue?

Buck,

YES.

That is exactly what is happening. did you do anything to get yours going better? I'm going to bring mine to the dealer in the morning and see what they can do. I just don't think that that is acceptable for a brand new saw.

It's still not super, but like you said, it does seem to run quite a bit better after it has warmed up for awhile.
