hey all,

i'm looking to put a 272 jug/piston in my 266xp, to increase the capacity.

i have seen advertised new jug/piston to suit 266,268,272 with 50mm bore. i have also seen new replacement piston for 272 that is 52mm.

so:what is the bore dia. of a 266?
what is the bore dia. of a 272?

cheers, serg

i do not think a 272 will fit on a 266, it WILL fit the 268. case designs are very diff on the much older 266. you can get some very good power gains out of a ported 266, if you port it very much you will want to change out the carb, the 2100 carb works very well on them. the woods port 266 i did a while back was set up with a 2100 carb. (stock carb wouldnt give it enough gas)

thanks for that,

i was told on this site that a 272jug would fit but i don't know. i have a 272xp complete saw on the way over from your side of the planet..... so can pull it down and see.

NWCS that vid was cool man. any info on that saw would be great. could you give me a part on that 2100 carb. does it bolt straight up or do i need the blocks etc between the jug and carb

i'm starting to get hooked

cheers, serg

Ben, check your pm's

I actually thought the 272 bore would fit also, but I have not done this myself. I have seen many good used cylinder/intake/carb assemblies on EBAY. Some of them have gone for $30-40 bucks. This and a new piston would not only save you some money but would ensure that you have all the right accesory parts. This was defiintely an issue when I converted a 162 (same family of saws) to a 266. Granted, the 162 had more differences than would a 272, a saw that is was contemparary with the 266. You might need a new top cover also.

Saw Troll might know about this one.. the other guy who might be able to help you is Mange (do a search on him). He isn't around much anymore as he administrates the Saw Collectors website, but I know he checks in. Maybe send him a PM. Great guy, knows his Huskys!

This should be a fun project for you!
