Well stupid me was in the saw shop last month and stumbled upon a Stihl 280. I squared my guy up and he said he wouldn't have it ready for a few days. About a month later I picked it up.

I ran the saw a little bit the other day by idling a tank of gas thru it. I tried it out and it was slow to respond so I did like any real man would do. I called Dan Henry and he said keep run a few tanks thru it. Today it has come alive.

Now The muffler just blows for opening it up since it is sealed. Looking in from the rear of the muffler there is five holes in there that let the exhaust pass then out the nimble screened port.
Here's the whole Picaso.

Rear shot. You can barely see one of the holes in this baffle.ABout the size of a pencil. To boot you can't open it up to work on. Well not me Dan will have to take care of that part. He told me to Overnite it and he would have it done no later than tues afternoon.

Dan even went as far as saying he would overnite it back. Now that is SERVICE.

Look at this outlet. Just like Walkers.Looks like a job for JD Hotsaw. And why wouldn't it.

Here's a close up of the front cover, the screws were set nice but there was no locktite to hold them in either. HMM

280

Very easy two get the two halves apart. Have one apart now. Baffles come out nicely. Get the outlet hole opened up and I think you will like what happens!:)

hey Marky Mark

What the heck were you thinking buying that 280... I thought that you said you'd never buy another orange and white saw

Much to my suprise the 280 modded muffler was at my door. When I went to let my dog out there was the box from McClure Pennsiltuckey. I slapped the pig on my saw and fired it up for a few seconds. Today after a wonderful paint job at one of my apartments I came home and tried the Stihl 280 out.

Boy did it come alive and the work Dan did to the muffler was Flawless. I will post few pics later, it doesn't have the side pipes I like to look, but since all Dan had to work with was the muffler and several pictures to get and idea of how it sits in the case.

I seem to like the Stihl 280 and it has a little more Ergonomics than my other Stihls but not total comfort like a Husky. It sports a 18'' bar but 16" I feel would be Max, Dan pulled thru again ontime. With Ken doing the 385 and Dan working a 288lite with a sideorder of Dolmar the quiver just keeps growing.
