Does anyone see any prob. with running a 32" bar on a 372 with 3/8 .050 skip for doing the occasional stump cut in hardwood? The saw has had muffler work done and pulls great with a 24". I've used a bar that long in pine and it was ok, just wonder about overworking the saw in red oak.

Thanks, Steve Bradley

Bradley, I used a 372 with a 28" bar and a full skip chain to finish off a 58" willow tree I cut a while back....my opinion is this that is the longest bar I would use with this particular saw....only my opinion. I'm sure there's more experienced users out there who may have different opinions. Oh yeah, this saw also had a modified muffler.

Loggers in my area would not be at all happy with a 32" bar on a 71cc saw, skip chain or not.

You need to be into a 395, an 066, 2095 Johnsy, 694 Solo or something in that class. (90 to 95cc)

I know there is probably going to be someone come up and say they can do it with their souped 026, but I'm talking about what would work well.

Tony is correct is telling you what would work best. I have a couple guys running 33" on 2171's....the real problem lies when you start limbing with it....the constant hitting of the tip on branches can cause undo pressures on the crankcase between the bar studs and crack it....just be careful.
