Only one way to find out - try it out in your own wood.....

The exact model of chain will also make a difference. :biggrinbounce2:

Haven't timed the cuts but I went from a .058 semi to a .050 semi NK on my husky 246. I do notice the difference,(NK being faster).

All other things being equal, it makes sense that nk would be faster than a wider kerf...

I never timed them, but I really like the loop of Stihl RSC I am running on my 346xp. It seems faster than the stock Oregon 95VP (semi chisel) that came stock, but I have only run the Stihl chain once for about 20 minutes.

I've had 95vp, it cuts good, but I like Stihl RS or Oregon LG the best. sadly the 33-34-35LG chains are no longer available from Oregon. The 95vp is kind of its own creation, it meets low kick requirements on the micro-lite bars and some saws but its still a yellow label chain. They call it "micro chisel" instead of semi chisel or chipper, or chisel...don't know if that name is meaningful. But when I am in fairly clean wood, and have the HP to run it, I always run chisel, just like the way it cuts.
