I have had one for a few years - it is a good, nice-handling and service-friendly 3 cube saw. Not spectacular in any way though.

Avoid the cat muffler, I have heard they turn that saw into a dog.......:help:

Doing it all over, I would have got a 346xp instead.

I have one and I'm very satisfied with it. My 026 is not often used anymore ;)
Choose between 346 and 353 depending on which engine character you want. More limbing, 346. More bucking, 353.

also the price difference is worth noting, here its roughly around 200e difference between 353G and 346XPG but i quess it might be less over there...

How do you avoid the cat muffler? Do all the new ones in the US come with one? Is this something that can be changed?

You either have to mod the cat muffler ( do a search here), or change it out for a non-cat one (about 30 USD, I believe).

Remember to readjust the carb..........

in my area it's about $75 USD difference between a 353 and a 346xp.

Well, here the difference is about 300USD+, when they are both on "sale", more if they are not.......

Still would get the 346xpg, if I needed another saw that size..........;)

I agree, and this is why my next saw is going to be a 353. In my area a 353 with a 16" b&c cost $389. If I remember correctly the 346XP with a 16" b&c cost around $440.

That is true, if those were the only saws in the world..........:yoyo: :yoyo:

I just picked up another 353 from Amicks a few months ago and it does not have a cat muffler this is the second of these we bought and I think they are great little saws, good bang for the buck. Pulls a 3/8" .050 16" chain without any trouble... We use the 3/8" .050 stuff on all our 50 to 70cc saws. Makes stocking chain easy. :greenchainsaw:

Good info, but I still believe the 353 is at its best with the .325NK setup.......:chainsawguy:

The catalytic muffler contains some things best not inhaled. If you INSIST on modding one PLEASE wear a respirator with purple cartridges. I want ALL of you to be happy and healthy for many many years to come.
