If I were going to replace the P/C on a 353, and I was going with OEM, is there any reason I would want to go with a 353 cylinder instead of a 346 one? The price difference is negligible.

I have gone w/ 346ne oem on 2 353’s and both have been great saws w/ noticable pep from 353. Both had the catalytic mufflers and one melted down. I went with after market mufflers and have been very happy. Both saws are very dependable and I rotate them with 2 “real” 346’s on jobs. I cannot tell the difference w/o looking at the starter housing. Hope this helps.

There are a number of options. OEM "New Edition" 353/346 might be my choice but I put a Hyway kit on my 353 a year ago. Cut 8 cord with it the past fall and was very happy with it. If you don't have the metal carb boot clamp, make the change.
