I have a 359 Husky and everyone here mentions the "non-cat muffler for increased performance. Does anyone have a picture of this muffler so i get some idea what it looks like?

How can you tell which one your have if they both look identical?

Look inside - they look different. Also, the catalytic muffler will get REALLY hot - much hotter than a standard muffler.

The saw will have a green gas cap, or say "e-tech" on the sticker. I think the cat mufflers have the letters "CAT" in the numbers on the muffler also.

Or, take it off and look inside.;)

I have modded an e tech before. It was crimped shut so I just ground the crimed edge off with a grinder. I gutted it and duel ported the shell then welded it back together. I worked great plus it didn't cost anything.

I wanted to cut one apart with the little thin cutter wheel for my dremel, Do the bolt tubes hold it together also?

Nope, just cut the crimp and it will come apart (at least the one I did), as I remember, I think the tubes were just attached to one side. Wait till you see how much cr@p is in there, you will wonder how it ran at all. I would guess that if you spent the time on it with a dremel you could save some "ears" and not have to weld it back together.

I gutted an E-Tech muffler, too!

Follow this LINK to see one I did. Post #22 - I used a 00 brazing attachment on my torch to heat and uncrimp the muffler. Removed the catalyst, inserted my homemade baffle, crimped back together, painted, reinstalled.
