I'll be cutting at sea level one day and at 6000 msl the next. How do I get to the limiter caps and what's the best way to deal with them?

Stihl makes a tool to get them off,or you can use a small fine thread screw..

You don't need to take off the limiter caps to deal with the 0->6000 feet. They only limit "richer", not leaner.
They are already set for close to sea level, and allow you to turn them clockwise (leaner) for altitude. All you need is a small screw driver - the one that came with (or was supposed to have..) your saw.
Don't use a screw unless you are really careful and reverse the cap direction to line up the tang and slot... most mess them up and have to dig them out.
