372XP Threaded Hole Repair

Gents,

Have a case with stripped holes for the top cover. Base metal seems insufficiently thick for installing repair inserts that would take M5x0.8 into an M8 tapped hole. Thinking to whittle down the OD of such an insert and epoxy in the holes. Not sure how that may end up? Any recomendations?

Have you considered helicoils? The ones that look like little springs, not the threaded inserts.

I think those are about as small as you could go oversized to do a thread repair and use the existing thread size.

Otherwise, you could tap it to the next drill size—M6x1 or 1/4-20.
