The used one could crack quickly again and you'd be buying new any way. I replace those on any 394 that I rebuild.

I was tempted to try and JB weld it but would hate to ruin a new piston because I didn't want to spend $20

I totally agree, I'd be playing with fire. Don't want to have to buy another piston and that would definitely be my luck, all because I'm a cheap Italian. You should see some of the clothes I'll wear just because I don't want to buy anything.

I'm cheap too, and am almost always operating on a shoestring when putting a saw together. This is one of those times where you've gotta pony up though...

A quick Google search found them for as cheap as $23.17. One place had $6.99 Flat Rate shipping.

trust me when i say this, i've done enough of these saws to know. your dealer should be able to get you one for the cheapest. my dealers pretty high priced and i can get them cheaper through him then ebay or any other online source. used ones that aren't cracked work just fine. i've reused tons of old junk and had them last. cookie cutters don't know. i've never had a replacement used one fail on me and i'm pretty certain that neither did they only cutting cookies'n'all.

You don't cut cookies at all Aaron. I was referring to mike to see if I could get a reaction out of him. Mike likes to cookies. I wasn't telling him to buy used. I would always go new if I didn't have good used in my personal stash. I was in the whiskey last night and remember picking on mustang mike but can't remember the thread. Just signed in and going to look for it now.
