Hi guys,i got a 395 and it literally fills with gas while it sits,if i turn it upside down it will start flowing out of the carb, i noticed some parts of the tank vent assembly are missing, would this cause pressure in the tank and make the gas go in the carb and then the cylinder? Thx

Probably your carb- they should hold 15 pounds through gas inlet and I would fix your tank vent- they are desighned to hold pressure- gas and let air pass into the tank - one way valve tube- some have a puck filter and newer have a green elbow with a line on it- it does sound like you have 2 problems
Its got the elbow line, what could be wrong with the carb tho? It floods like crazy there's gas everywhere

maybe your needle vave leaks or your diphram is not set right, I pressure check all my carbs before using- just take the miivac and pump positive pressur ito the carb inlet- and if its dropping- well needs attention- diaphram- gasket first diapham second- 2 different types of buttons on diaphrams- on has a plain buuton and the other hooks onto the arm

Its got the one that buttons,I will check the needle valve tho

Was going to suggest this as well. Had a 261 that was doing the same thing as the OP’s; the carb was reassembled incorrectly.
The carb seems ok will replace the metering needle tho, also it was told to me that the saw was flooded and the gas in the cylinder was lit up and it exploded like crazy, could the explosion have caused the whole thing to go haywhire? I ve been picking my brain for the last few weeks with the damn thing

Fuel can only flow into the engine if leaking through the needle or possibly the impulse circuit. One of those is leaking.

On the pump side, the flat diaphragm goes against the carburetor, then the gasket, then the cover. On the metering side with the needle, the gasket goes on first, then the diaphragm, and then the cover. Make sure the needle lever is at the right height. You can polish the needle seat with a Q-tip cut on an angle and some toothpaste.

Depends on the era of the saw, but current tank vents don’t allow pressure to escape, they will only flow into the tank to allow air to replace fuel as it’s burned. So if it’s flooding, it’s not the tank vent. Although the way it sounds, you should probably replace the vent bits as well
