Are walnut boards that have sat in a barn 40 years worth more than newer mill boards? Never used
Maybe to a guitar builder. Are walnut boards that have sat in a barn 40 years worth more than newer mill boards? Never used
They may be too thin but ask.Have about 170 boards. 8ft long at least 1 inch thick and 4 to 8 inches wide.
Thanks for feedback
If it was American chestnut it would almost have to be at least 80 years old:

I'm in Louisville, and am interested. Do you have a price in mind?
More than half 6 to 8 inches wideIn Walton
Will take $8 a board foot for all.
Rough-sawn, or planed? Are the boards cracked, checked, split? Fairly clean, or covered in 40-years of dirt?
Any pictures of the stockpile? I may be interested, but need to see the boards to see if it's worth the trip.
Thanks
RoughNo cracking. All clean. This had been stored for 40 years by furniture maker that had passed away.
Cool I’ll plane it for $2 more a board foot. It’s already a great price. Every piece solid and straight. A couple has a curved in the end like top piece. Wasn’t even trying to sell. Was going to build a bar room out of one of my basement rooms. Those need: 1) an end trim, 2) edging/jointing, 3) Planing
Better off keeping it its not replaceable and nice stuff. I wish I had it.Cool I’ll plane it for $2 more a board foot. It’s already a great price. Every piece solid and straight.
