Thinking about buying this as my first bucket truck. The guy originally told me it's a 65' but he was wrong. It's 48 platform height and 32 reach.

Is this truck too small? $8500 is the price and it's been garage kept. Low miles and runs great. Needs a couple of tires and misc..

I'm more of a part time tree guy. I could do some trimming up but I mostly want it for de-limbing and taking down smaller trees, not 80 footers
the 48ft boom is for 48ft vertical, you will almost never operate it straight up and down since the truck would be under each falling limb
plus you will only have about 15ft of usable side reach before your bucket dips below 30ft
again, my 55ft is too small, too small for trees over 50ft because you have to work the tree, from one side to the other, and the truck can almost never be parked under the tree

I can set up my truck and hang a weight off the bucket and measure everything including side reach and height if you really want

No that's OK. I'm convinced. Thanks!

The price is not bad. I also live in PA and many trees are well within range of that truck if you can drive right up to it. We have 60' and 75' booms. We don't often need to climb for trees we can drive up to.

If you desperately need a bucket and cant find one you can always offer him less. It will get you started. You will find yourself climbing out of the bucket often though. Just make sure that boom is inspected asap.
