Left at 0 dark thirty and drove to the sunny Eastside of the Cascades. Here's what is happening. This is a fuels reduction project. There are summer cabins in the area, and a lot of bug kill in the woods. So far, it is all mechanized. There'll be some hand falling and skyline later.

Here's a lake in the distance. It feeds water for irrigation in the Yakima Valley.

The post skidded area. Because the trees are farther apart, I walked my chubby legs off today. Need Ibuprofen!! Also, I wish they would water the skid trails so it isn't so dusty. I have long hair for goodness sakes!! It takes a while to dry after washing...:biggrinbounce2:

A different look at The Mountain

Meanwhile, back at the landing. I was curious to see if the truckers threw the wrappers over or if, like their other eastside truckers, had the loader lift them over. But alas, I was called away to slap paint on trees and snags.

Nice pictures!

I'm guessing the ponderosa will take advantage of the disturbed soil on the skid trails and regenerate in abundance there?

We cruised timber in a recently logged area... solid pine regeneration on the skid trails.

Thanks for sharing.
