This for a husky 55 a couple of years old.
I grabbed the wrong tank and ran straight gas! I realized it after about a half hour use and stopped but the damage was done!
(Numb nut):bang: the piston is shot and definitely going to be replaced!

I added some pix of the cylinder (fingers crossed?)
I cleaned the cylinder (with acid) a little and need advice on it.
There are visible scorch marks but barely able to feel them by touch.
Wondering if I need to put some fine sand grit to it? Realizing the cylinder is critical and may damage the new rings.
So my question is this. Should I absolutely change both together. Or just get the piston.
And try save $60 by not getting the piston and cylinder kit? (Might cost me more in the long run) (Full kit at Baileys for around $84) Last year I got quoted about $200 didn’t think it was worth it for this saw. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=140054934026&rd=1&rd=1
So if you can tell from the pictures. Your advice would be most welcome! I could bring it down to a dealer too.

PS If I go for the kit and replace both while the engine is apart are there any other things I should replace or look for?
Thanks!

it might work after honing and new rings to piston, but thats only if those marks arent deep...

Forgot to ask?

Whats some good honing methods and materials?
Does this affect the nickelseal? and later affect the performance?
thanks

I wouldn't bother trying to hone that one. If it's only $60.00 extra for the cylinder just replace it. That way you will know that you have done it properly and that the top end is fresh. Just chalk this one up to experience....You are not the first person who has grabbed the wrong can.
