61 Muffler question

Yup, me again with another newbie question. The muffler on the 61 is rather spartan on the inside. Basicly has two flat plates with about 20 small holes drilled through them, with an arrestor screen sandwiched in between. Should I enlarge the holes and make a new screen, or ditch the plates/screen altogether?

It depends on allot of factors. Are you trying to just open it up a little or are you trying for a full blown race saw? It also depends on where you cut, if you cut on national forest you must have the (ANSI certified) spark arrestor screen. If you are just cutting in your backyard everything is game.
