I talked to my local dealer and wanted to order a new top end for the Poulan pro 655. He ordered it and the next day told me it was obsolete. Is this true? I just ordered a new 455 top end two months ago with no problem. If I could get any help, that would be great since I would like to see this saw running again.

The 655 is a hard animal to get parts for. When a saw manufacturer stops producing a model, they usually commit to supplying replacement parts for a specified time period. In Pioneer/Partner's case, this was all changed because the companies went through a number of ownership/management changes (SawTroll probably knows more about that). So in this case, replacement parts were only available for as long as remaining stocks held out. The 455 was in far less demand so those inventories are still available.

There are some dealers that still have some new stock, contact Madsens http://www.madsens1.com -I've contacted them in the past and they hooked me up with dealers that still had parts.
