That one is old news, have been discussed here before (or maybe it was on another saw forum).

Read a bit between the lines, and another winner is pretty obvious.....:D :ices_rofl:

So the 18 inch homeowner champ is the Stihl 250. Hmmmmmm no wonder I sell so many of those saws. Gotta send one to my friend in Norway, yup, Sawtroll has to have one,:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

You know that I don't like the 250, and that is for good reasons - and an 18" bar - pure lunacy on that saw......

They miss the point

Reliability and support are the most important factors for the homeowner saw. They don't even address that.

Of course I'm biased to my 250. Got a 16" bar never a lack of power using all the bar. 18" I'm not so sure of. It did bog down once when I was cutting with all the bar and the tip. Maybe I gotta work on my sharpening some :monkey:

now wait I thought it said that the 346xp was the winner. Of course they did not mention the MS260 Pro. I really hate most of the articals written for the consumers. they tend to be cleverly desguised advertisements.

Yup, that is how it is, the saw that cuts the slowest (among those who count) is called the winner, because it has some features that are nice for the not-in-the-know users....

Pretty annoying, really.....:monkey: :monkey: :greenchainsaw:

And we have such "tests" here also, can't forget the Swedish one that said the MS361 was best, and the MS230 in second place - apples and oranges.....

ya know.. just hanging out on this site for a few months informs a person enough to not buy half of the homeowner crap.

the whole easy start part makes me just tempted to buy something new... and from a pro dealer.... not "THE REPOT"... no more 39cc reconditioned macs for me.. (not dissing the makita dolmars their rental depts sell.. i don't think i have that here)

however some technical assistance made it so my best saws so far came from a junk shop.. this site .. and the dump

those were a 70e.. a 111s and a P85

this site has also been known to get a person.. and in my case me.. interested in running down to the local bike shop and picking up a motor and mounting some rugged hardware to it.

i could ramble for days on this

still trying to figure why the homeowner stihls cost so much.. could have been the town(yarmouth) but most of their stuff.. even chains and axes were double that at my local solo/dolmar place.. which is a pro distributor
