Hey all,

I just bought a house so I'm looking for a bigger saw to run my alaskan sawmill for projects around the house. At least 70cc ideally, I'm not picky on a brand and am not concerned on looks- it just needs to be able to rip boards! Thanks!

White Mountains. Thanks for the offer gunrush. I should have mentioned I'm looking to spend as little as possible. I hardly want anyone to cut me a lavish deal seeing how new I am to the forum but hopefully someone has something old lying around that they could part with that still runs.

No worries. There are lots of good people here. Look through the trading post and I'm sure you'll find something that fits your needs.

White Mountains... I've got family in North Haverhill, NH and more in the St Johnsbury, VT area. It sure is beautiful up that way.

I agree, 90+cc for a milling saw, something like a Stihl 660 or 880 or whatever other brands in that size range. That Jonsered 2188 would work great. Very nice saw saw, looks hardly used!

I do have a Husqvarna 2100 for sale, came off a mill actually. Not nearly as clean as that Jonsered, but it is 100cc.

I'm not a milling expert but you might want to look for more than 70cc's. What size bar are you gonna run on the mill?

Nick, there is currently two 395 xp's for sale on VT Craigslist. I have nothing to do with those sales, just figured I'd let you know seeing as you are nearby. Those 395xp's make a real good milling saw. I have one on my Alaskan. I also have a 385xp and wouldn't want to mill with it after using the 395. Not wide cuts anyways. Like others said, get the most cc's you can. Big saws aren't typically cheap though.

I've actually got a 394 lined up. Thanks to everyone for their advice and offers- I'm glad to have found this site!
