These are old slow rolling saws with good torque. Mine has a rim sprocket. Would it be a make to get a high tooth count (say 8 to 10t) rim sprocket and some form of light chain to speed it up a bit?
 
I'd try an 8 pin with the regular 3/8 chain. It likely fits with the bar/chain that's already on the saw.
This is cheap and easy.
You need a different bar to run 3/8lp, it's an expensive experiment.
