I have a late 80's sidefire wood chipper, withe a Wisconsin w2-1235 motor. Its time to retire the motor looking to upgrade to a kohler ch-752 or a briggs 35hp motor. Anybody have any experience fitting a new motor on an older machine?

Hi John,

It would be better that you replace the Wisconsin engine with another Wisconsin. The reason being, you'll have to reconfigure the engine mounting bracket. There might be numerous things you would have to change such as the sheave off of the engine, the drive belt, possibly the drive belt guard as well. Continental Engines now is the distributor of Wisconsin engines and their website is www.continentalengines.com.

Hope this helps!
