Just changed knives and cleaned everything with gum out carb cleaner/parts cleaner after hearing stories of blades coming loose due to not cleaning threads and dirty surfaces . After doing some research looks like carb cleaner can leave an oily residue do you think this will cause any issues ? Machine has not been used yet with the flipped knives appreciate any feedback

Our shop uses a painters tool to clean the knife seat and the back of the knives. If the knife is a bolt style, make sure to use anti-seize or grease on the threads. You never want to run them in dry.

Hope this helps!

The Vermeer service manual instructs to lubricate the knife bolts with light oil.

Can't say for certain what was used for the last knife servicing, but it took a breaker bar and a 3' extension to get them loose.
