I was wondering if possible, how hard it would be to convert my 2wd to 4wd.

The truck has a 5.8 with a ZF 5speed.

Anything is "technically" possible. The real question is, how much money do you want to throw at it?

THAT would NOT be an easy conversion.

Dealerships can't GIVE away vehicles like that these days. Trade up; or at least out. You'd have a much better chance of success.

Just my $.02.

Lots of work!!!! If you are gun ho, to try find one in a junk and go from their.
but make sure it's the same year and model

I wouldn't bother; buy a 4X4. Around here, a decent 92 F350 4X4 might go for $2000. If you could get something for your 2 wheel drive, I don't see that it's worth the effort and cost to switch.

I agree not to try it, I feel sure you will hate yourself before it's over.

Do you have a donor truck? A similar year (87-97) truck with 4wd? If so then it is actually a very easy (virtually bolt in) swap. If the donor truck has the same transmission then it is even easier. Major parts needed include:

Front axle
Front driveshaft
Transfer case
Trans crossmember
Tranfer case shifter
Front springs (F350 4x4 are leaf sprung, I believe 2wd truck are coil spring)

Having a donor truck is really the only cost efficient way to do this swap, but it is very do able.
