I am having some problems with a 1250 I recently purchased . it's a 1250 gas self feed . when I purchased it ,it ran and chipped in the demo but we only ran it for a little while . once I put it into service if i try to run it for any length of time it will not accept much larger than 2in piece .I changed the hydraulic fluid which was milky because it had water and filter and replaced a hose that was aftermarket and to small. I am wondering two things
1) what is the factory flow supposed yo be both in terms of GPM and psi
2) does anyone know what pump is supposed to be on there .right now I have a danfoss which doesn't tell me anything .

Amy help would be greatly appreciated as I am using my backup chipper which is a Vermeer 1600 chuck n duck . I bought this so ib wouldn't have to chuck n duck lol
Thanks in advance guys you're the best !!

A couple things.
1-There is a feed speed control valve on the left side of the feed table. Make sure its not turned down.
2-The water in the system may have worn down any number of parts. The easiest to check is the pressure relief valve but be sure the feed speed control valve is working before you adjust it.
3- There is a suction screen in the hydro tank that could be blocked. If you didn't clean it and the tank when you change the fluid it could be your problem. When I drain milk from a system I run a few gallons of ATF through the system to clean out the gunk. If its bad I'll pull the tank too and clean it.
4-If none of the above is the problem then you will need to use a pressure gauge to test the system. That's a lot of work.

I have a 1992 1220 gas. Best I can tell they are basically the same chipper as a 1250. I have a vermeer manual with parts breakdown, etc. It also has the hydraulic test procedure in it. If you want, I'll send you some pictures of it. Just send me a PM.

If you go to Vermeer's main website you can register you chipper and request a manual. They will send you one free of charge.
