I finally got around to trying some 95VP chain. This little chain is really impressive! I was amazed at how smooth it cut. I wish that I tried it sooner on the little Husky!

Greetings! I have made several posts about this chain as well. Personally, it is my favorite. I have cut with all different types of chain, and to me, its the smoothest, fastest cutting chain I have used. Nothing touches it for the smaller saws. I use it on a couple of 346's and 350's. Another thing I have noticed, the chain that has "Husq" stamped into the links, holds an edge longer than any chain I have used. MUCH longer. I can nearly cut straight dirt with it and it holds an edge. I don't have any idea who makes that chain but it rocks.

ditto on what u guys said.. i also have found the 95vp to be as good or better than full chisel on saws that run .325..
i completely changed my 026 setup,, to 16 micro nk bar and 95 vp . it just is faster an smoother on that saw.. plus i can always bring out the .63 gauge and full chisel chain that i previously ran on this saw..got plenty o those chains ,.
the 50 gauge 95 vp setup is a fraction faster and also smoother.jmo

If Oregon has a hit on thier hands with the 95VP .325 thin kerf,
can they cross over to a 3/8 thin kerf system also? Do you think it would run as fast & smooth as the .325 95VP?

max im not sure, as 3/8 is what i use on bigger saws and im not sure i want narrow kerf on those saws.. it is something to look into tho..
in my opinion rite now ,i think the current full chisel 3/8 with strong bar would be my choice, for bigger saws..
the narrow kerf bar is just barely strong enuff for my 026. probably wont hold up as well in the long haul..but its sure a smooth fast system. we ll see.

Tony, good thoughts. I never thought of it that way and you are right. I would feel funny cutting into big stuff with the 357xp with a less durable bar on it. Best to leave well enough alone with the 95VP.

Does anyone know where to get the 95VP chain with "Husq" stamped on it, that Brad mentioned? I,m always for chain that holds an edge. Paul F B

The 95VP chain is an Oregon brand. I'm not sure why it would say HUSQ on it unless Oregon made a bunch of chain for Husqvarna that somehow got onto the market. I also recall reading (I could be wrong here!) was that the 95VP chain was being discontinued by Oregon, so I bought 4 loops of it to run on my 028 with the 16 inch micro-lite bar. It's a sweet set-up, very smooth and fast in anything under 12". I'll get out the square-ground 3/8ths 73LG on the bigger saws for bigger wood.

95vp

Its great chain. Faster on my 353 husky than stihl rs or oregon lp. I dont think its being discontinued as it is standard issue on 340 345 350 346 and 353 husky saws. If it is stamped "husq" is just relabled oregon chain to match the saw or husky packaging. I think on a slightly bigger saw or modified saw that square chisel would be faster. On a stock 50 cc saw, if you did some timed cuts, I think you would find that 95vp would be the fastest. It does have better stay sharp better than square chisel and is a little more forgiving as far as filing goes.

Victorytea, the stuff that im referring to that has "Husq" stamped on it is oregon 95vp. It is just relabled, and comes in a different box. The box that it comes in is a Husqvarna box. If I recall, I think its relabled as H30. But either way, its the same exact chain as 95vp. If you have a Lowe's nearby, they sell the Husqvarna H30. Also the H30 comes factory on the 346, 350, 353, etc. Of all the chain I have tried, it holds its edge the longest, and cuts the fastest.
Hope this helps.:)

id have to agree denny .. ive not actually compared carton full chisel to rs chain ... but the 95vp does cut a tad faster than the rs, and smoother in cut..jmo

That H30 is manufactured in Sweeden and only comes with new units. If you buy a replacement loop it'll be private labeled Oregon brand. For .063 guage fans, starting in December we'll have some Woodsman Pro ( Carlton Brand ) in a full comp., round ground chisel @ $0.18 per drive link.

I just got 2 loops of the husqv branded 95vp on ebay for my 350

Guess what - it is marked husqv on the side plate & is sealed in an oregon bag. Made in Canada

The bag is labled as follows: 503 30 58 72
H30 72E
HUSQV

Got it for $8 a loop plus shipping.

I want to retract my statement on a earlier post. I stated that the H30 chain was made in Sweeden. I received this information from our Husqvarna distributor, and took his word for it. We just had a engineer from Oregon in here and he informed me that they were the manufacturer of that chain. My apologies if this caused any fights at the bars last night.

I am not sure, but don't Oregon have a factory here in Sweden also?
I have been told so, many times.
