Hello Madssw and Mange:
Madsaw. I would appreciate any help you can give me. If you want, I'll disassemble the carb and take some pictures of the float and send them to you or post them here along with some measurements. Thanks. Lewis.
Mange. I used a bit of "All Seal" the sealant/adhesive I use to make the diaphragms for the Disston D0-101. I just took a fine briseled brush and wiiped some sealant over the affected area of the float, thinking it would do the job. I then placed the float in some gas mix and let her sit for a few hrs. The float didn't sink or fill up with gas, but now the float doesn't seem to raise enough to shut off the gas. I've hooked up a gas line between the old gas tank and the carb and as long as the carb sit level it works. But as soon as you angle the carb to approximatey a 45 degree angle (like it sits on the saw) it starts leaking fuel again. I've also checked the needle and seat with a vacume gauge and the seat seals tight, no leaks. With the carb inverted (upside down) so that the weight of the float is on the needle and seat, it doesn't leak. I do have some soldering paste that I could try and use on the brass float, but afraid that the heat used to melt the paste will be too much for the seam around the float and it wiill still leak. I can try that approach if a replacement float can't be found. I know the float was sinking, for it was full of gas and dripping gas from some pin holes in the bottom of the float. OK, talk to everyone later. Take care. Lewis.
