About time somebody with some spare moments or a recently severed limb take the time to compile a list of relatively interchangable parts for saws. The coil seems to be the recent death sentence that I've been going on about. If this was a guitar site people would just rewrap or wrap their own coils.... aka pickups. Hmm.. maybe theres something to this. Might make em more compact. Like If the magnet was boron or something.. How hard could this be? Core.. copper wire... and to finish it.. dip it into some black plastic goop.

Anyways.. if a magic list exists.. let me know. I'll still hang out here once I find it.

more of the same. Could we start these things with a battery and a capacitor from a disposable camera? Just trying to take what I've been learning from other disciplines and bring it home to some big cuttin'!!

Spent the first year in an 1888 farm house with some green 100 yr old ash. Sledge split most of it as I was between jobs.. broke and had time. Started in November. Got rugged.. kept a couple hunks as trophies (anvil stands). Used salvaged wood and furniture the rest of the time. I still like to hand split as its been whats kept my longest living relatives in shape. I do however appreciate the toys.

A big saw is like a powerplate workout... but saves you 10,000 or a gym membership.

It's harder to wind an ignition coil (assuming were talking about the old points based coils) than it looks.. The "interlayer" insulation issues have to be considered and taken into account. Basically the voltage delta per layer can be high so these layers need to be isolated with the right insulating medium. Quite possible, but...

If somebody could make repro coils.. then somebody would make a few bucks. And there would be a lot more working saws. I haven't gotten into coil knowledge enough to grasp their interchangability. And if its about custom top covers.. then so be it.. lets do that too!!! I just saw a Jonsereds 111s with a tillotson carb, the coil was mounted in a different spot... and it had a wrap around exhaust.... and works... So I dare to dream.
