I'm looking into getting some new equipment and would like any opinions.

1. which one...spark line, xtc fireline or xtc peppermint for a climbing line?

2. I'm looking for a pulley set up for lowering limbs and and topping trees. I'm not working huge timber, just average sized pine trees and oaks.

Thanks for all your help.

I like 11mm lines.....

I like smaller lines because its less weight you have to lug around up there. However, all those lines you listed are ten percent off right now at sherills. That two ton block is great, but don't forget the whoopie or loopie sling -- much easier and faster than a single eye sling since you wont have to tie a timber hitch everytime you need to move it.

Check out the knotless rigging kit from Sherrill. I bought one and am a huge fan. It's great for rigging limbs, but I wouldn't drop anything to big with the rope and block that it comes with.

Pulley 2.37 Sheave : SherrillTree Tree Care Equipment

Would this type pulley be acceptable for smaller limbs. And how do i factor in for shock loading.

That pulley has two attachment points and I would think that would be unnecessary for catching small limbs. Those rescue pulleys are ok to a point but I would not want to shock load one very much at all. I prefer a block for any good amount of rigging. For smaller stuff, either in weight or quantity, I will natural crotch or use a sewn sling and a steel biner if no natural crotch is available.
