So last night my wife wakes me and tells me the furnace is out, I check. time to call the tech. No big deal, I own a tree service and have tons of wood........................until i sold it all! So last night at 1030pm I found my self at the store buying those little bundles of wood at $4.99 a piece, 5 pieces a bundle, spent 55, for barley a nights worth of wood!

Remember the saying "don't get high off your own supply" from New Jack City!

A FOOL I AM

I did however help a fellow wood guy out! With those prices, he better be feeding those kids steak!

I think it was in many movies! I just always remember Chris Rock as the junkie in that movie "pookie" lol
But the fact is...... I DID.............. and it burnt me (another pun) Just like they said!
Spent most of the day cutting, now today to start splitting!
25 ton speedco gonna get a work out today!:blob2:

It is as old as dealing, my dad was a health-inspector for 40 years and bartenders would say similar things about drinking at the bar. Or drinking period for that matter.

I know a couple of tree guys who have cut down on selling wood because they are burning so much. With delivery costs it just ain't worth it. they sell only to people who pick it up themselves or are in the immediate neighborhood.

The amount of wood I have sold this year is ridiculous!
Makes me more interested in building a custom splitter
to increase productivity, I cant see spending 25-40 thousand on something that a good fab shop could bang out fairly quick.

What do you have now? Are you looking for one with a cutoff on it too? The $5-8K splitters like Faver and Split-right do a pretty good volume.

Looking for one with a loader and saw, that can split a 40"dia, 16-22" thick all at one time! Thats what I want:hmm3grin2orange:
I have a 25 ton SpeedCO, 8hp Tech on top.

I have in my Garage a 25hp Briggs, High volume pump from Altec, still in the box! Thinkin my buddy, who has a shop with a CNC and all that, could do something a lot cheaper than buying one, For him, his time would be paid in beer! Material at cost, CNC full price, paying for operator, which I think is a great deal, My bud's a engineer and is some what goofy on the idea!
