Got busy turning some of this White Ash into cash. Started out rippin' some of the slabs.

The top was a b*#ch. Started moving on me after router milling but trained it to stay flat. Lessons learned.

The panels were a pleasure to shape on a 1936 2 speed Delta yet still a little green after 3 years!

Was 4" short of 67" on the return side for a solid slab 78" x 67" 'L' so had to add.

And a Happy New Year to You as Well !

Thanks for the shop pics. I've always liked your shop and lanterns.

Please tell us what you're finishing that white ash with. It looks great. Ash is one of the few trees i have access to but they are all yard trees and probably fast grown. What kind of router bits are you using for the rail and styles on those panels. I would like to try my hand at making a few doors out of ash at some point.

And if you could, please tell us a little about training router milled slabs to stay flat. That sounds like something thats a handy trick!

After milling them flat, down to 1¾" from 2½", they may bow one way or another and not in any direction that any picture in any book may show so I clamp the jahubas out of em' with straight timbers for a few weeks. Next time up at the shop I'll get a shot of the shaper with the panel bit in it. All I did for joining was a dado for the panels and plate joined the rails/stiles. It gets slapped against a wall.
