Picked up my new toy today from a family member. Got a heck of a deal on it. Finally own a diesel and have a 3 point. Maybe one day a loader to... I can dream. 1976 Kubota l175 2 cylinder diesel. First thing I got was a carry all. Makes life so much easier! Now I need a bigger barn. Both lean to's are full of construction stuff and the hog house is even full of stuff. The 16 by 30 equipment room is full and the nice quad and jeep take up my garage. Both shades of orange seam to be getting along. Very nice. I was just having a conversation with a friend today about how I always thought it was not right to see a tractor without a bucket and that I had learned that buckets are second to tractors. Tractors are made for ground engaging implements and that buckets are more or less an afterthought. I have to keep reminding myself of that fact with my Massey. I am seriously considering trading my tractor in on a skidsteer with tracks.
Enjoy the tractor and if you poke around enough you can find plans or ideas on how to build your own bucket.

We have a newer Kubota at work with a loader and a bobcat s300 skidsteer. It's night a day different what they can do. I really don't need a loader and they go for a few grand even for this old tractor. Just be nice to have. Moving 16 ton of asphalt grindings with the quad and little trailer and shovel isn't much fun today...

I have a similar Kubota gray market tractor; I don't remember right off which designation is the legitimate North American tractor. I think you have it with the L175, so mine could be an L1500. There is a good forum on Kubotas that I have found: Orangetractortalks (.com) I think it is. But as I grew up with Allis-Chalmers around, the first thing I think of when I hear orange tractor is an Allis. Mine doesn't charge the battery. And Kubota dealers aren't allowed to have anything to do with gray market tractors.

Well the father in law added some orange to his nice new barn. Replaced the old John deere 110 with this 2016 kubota. Makes me hate him more. This will definitely move some logs in its life. Loader, mower, back hoe, back blade and clamp in forks. 21,000$ 20160117_190406.jpg 20160117_190354.jpg 20160117_190359.jpgAlso got my driveway down to my old barn done. Can take the tractors out without ripping up the yard. 10 ton of asphalt grindings moved by hand and trailer. And finished up a lean to for all my lumber. Barns showing its age. Plan on building a new one soon...20160117_155154.jpg

stihlfanboy. Is that a allis chalmers model C tractor? You take some good pictures, thanks!

I have an L305 with 4wd that needs a little work. They are a great little tractor but the engine is small for the frame. My 305 is only 79 ci vs my old 8n ford at 129 ci. Keeping my 305 at the same size but with a 100 ci engine would be a great woods/firewood tractor.I have removed the loader and going to add a winch to the front and a nice 3 pt hitch carrier box on the back with saw rack. Then I can snake around my woods without making a mess.

Haven't had the l175 in the woods yet but might take it out this weekend. It sure dose pick up some weight. My allis c is about the same as a 8n size and hp. It's a pain. In the woods with a trailer. Might take the kubota out with a box on the back and see how it dose.

"two for me, please..."

nice foto essay on your newly acquired family heirloom! 580 hours is nothing for a diesel. yours with good maint can easily go 2500! 17 hp. bit less at the PTO. Category 1 implements... yes, diesel is nice over gasoline as far as tractors go. unless vintage is your thing. be careful filling your diesel fuel tank. I always use a funnel and a filter. fine micron type. pre filter my fuel. I pour 5 gals into 1 gal. makes it a lot easier, albiet a bit slower. don't run out of diesel or you will moan and groan all day long, till u re prime it. use a stick if no fuel guage. dont run out. and when low, dont push it... go get more diesel!!!! first time u run out, u will know why!! lol ;) oil will always be black, very black. log your maintenance. start it up and let it warm up. always best advice. keep batteries on maint. chargers. this spring check all ur radiator connections. look inside, if tubes clogged have it rodded out. a diesel needs to cool as they work hard. if you don't have original owners manual get one. 17 falls into the compact series of tractors. mid size comes in around 92 hp!

no doubt u will enjoy it a lot. I always say, its not quite a farm... unless you got two tractors!! lol ;) iykwim. having the 2nd one will let you think differently about how u go about ur chores and what u can do now, u couldn't before. be careful with shredder size... 4' prob ideal, 5' may tax it and the... clutch. run all and do all ur PTO work at full PTO speeds, usually about 2450 rpm! of course, keep up on ur maint, ie lubs to zerks etc... buckets are 2nd to tractors. just lets u do so much more work. and differently. and speeds up so much. makes a great bench for field work, too. 17 hp is small, but it is a diesel! and that makes all the difference... as your 17 hp tractor is a real workhorse!! :)

enjoyed the show...

be nice to the father in law with the new Kubota package... lol... go wash n wax his new toy... lol. he might loan u his new shredder and finish mower.... :)

secret: read and learn from his Operator Manuals... then he knows u know what he knows (assumes he read them). mite even bring over the BX25D everybody has a bucket... but not everybody has a back hoe... and everybody with a bucket... lol... would just love to have a backhoe. it does what the bucket only can dream about... well, all things considered. :)

nice pix, send more...

ps: like ur barn! :)

Well like sharing my life so I'll just post in here instead of making a new thread. Found a big pin oak, biggest I've ever cut. Tomorrow's victim. 20160127_164645.jpg 20160127_164605.jpg 20160127_164626.jpgAnd made a new trailer just for it. The two I have just roll over to easy. Haha frame with the axel given to me and built the deck and sides out of 2x4's I gutted from a basement. All free.20160128_224901.jpg
